Tips for Grilling In Bad Weather

October 8, 2020 · Leave a Comment

grilling in the snow

I live in Florida, so that means I get to brag about our weather here in the winter while my friends up North are scraping their cars.  I got into the car yesterday morning and didn’t know what to do, there was ice on the windshield!  Yep, for us cold weather wimps in Florida, anything under 50 degrees qualifies for long sleeves and jackets.  I do know a thing or two about inclement weather of another kind, thanks to our daily afternoon thunderstorms in the Summer.  Nothing says extreme grilling like holding a metal spatula in a bad lightning storm.

Market research shows that 40% of Americans grill all year-round.  TLC posted some tips on grilling in inclement weather for those less-than-perfect days.  I don’t (yet) have a covered outdoor kitchen, so I can attest to the value of a good, large umbrella to cover the grill:

I have a LOT of respect for those of you that can use their tips for grilling in the snow.  Send us some photos of grilling in the snow so we can remember why we love living in the Sunshine State this time of the year.  In return, we’ll post some video of us running for our lives during a Summer lightning storm when it is 99% outside…

Check out TLC‘s tips for grilling in bad weather.

Man cannot live by pork chop alone. Every now and then you must sauce it up a bit. This smokey green sauce blends great with a pork chop. The combination of roasted poblano peppers, tomatillos and garlic make a savory sauce. This might also make a great base for a roasted corn and black bean salsa, which I might have to try some day soon. I'll let you know when I do. It's best to cook this recipe on a charcoal grill, so that the smokey flavor gets infused into the peppers and tomatillos and a side of mushrooms
