Grills Don’t Kill People, Fire Kills People

October 7, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Being an Engineer by trade, I love to read statistics.  It never ceases to amaze me what people keep statistics on.  For example, according to this article, in 2005 grills caused approximately 3,500 structure fires and 5,000 outdoor fires in or on home properties and resulted in $137 million dollars in property damage!  Gas grills cause more accidents than charcoal (maybe because their use is more prevelant?) and apparently 41% of these accidents are due to leaks and breaks in gas lines what-not.  Jeez, that will make me stop taking certain things for granted…

This article is a worth a read as you Northern folks start to venture out from your Winter caves and light up the old grill.   My favorite advice is sadly not obvious to some people “Use propane and charcoal BBQ grills outdoors ONLY”…

Man cannot live by pork chop alone. Every now and then you must sauce it up a bit. This smokey green sauce blends great with a pork chop. The combination of roasted poblano peppers, tomatillos and garlic make a savory sauce. This might also make a great base for a roasted corn and black bean salsa, which I might have to try some day soon. I'll let you know when I do. It's best to cook this recipe on a charcoal grill, so that the smokey flavor gets infused into the peppers and tomatillos and a side of mushrooms
